DoD is using the AC-130W to tackle seaborne threats in the Gulf

The U.S. Navy conducted a first of its kind joint exercise with a AC-130W in the Arabian Gulf recently.

Monsoon is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points. USS Monsoon and a P-8A from the Navy participated in the interoperability live fire exercise and they provided simulated surface targets for the AC-130W to engage.
