The aircraft will take off from Istres in France and make a stop in Al Dhafra airbase, UAE before heading to Ambala airbase. They are being flown by Indian pilots and because the flight from France to India is ten hours, the crew will rest in UAE for the night before making their way home the next day. They are supported by two French KC-135s and two mid-air refueling are plan along the way to UAE. India Air Force aerial refueling tankers will now provide support on the last leg. Because of the need to carry out mid-air refueling with French KC-135s, the Indian air crew are receiving additional training in France.
