123rd Fighter Squadron will be the first operational F-15EX unit

The U.S. Air Force has announced the formal training and operational units for the F-15EX on Aug. 14.

The 123rd Fighter Squadron at 142 Wing will be the first operational squadron to operate the new aircraft. It will make the transition in 2023.

The 173rd Fighter Wing will be the formal training unit for the new aircraft, starting from 2022.

The service also announced that the 125th Fighter Wing will operate the F-35A from 2024.
