The U.S. Air Force recently launched two separate efforts to find effective bladder relief solutions for female pilots flying on the B-52 bomber and fighters.

For the bomber, the solution is simpler, the aircraft has an existing urinal inside the aircraft. The service is now soliciting bids to install a privacy curtail for female aircrew.
As for women fighter pilots, the Agile Combat Support Directorate’s Human Systems Division recently hosted the Sky High Relief challenge. A total of 56 companies turn up to showcase their solutions.
10 prize challenges of approximately $100,000 each for components, and one prize challenge of $250,000 for a full system were awarded.
The second phase of the Sky High Relief Challenge will give the 11 companies each a Request for Prototype Proposal.
