Nimitz CSG heading towards South China Sea after being ordered home

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has ordered the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group (CSG) to head home in the West Coast of the United States.

The carrier and its escort, guided-missile cruiser USS Princeton (CG 59), have been at sea for more than 240 days.

Both vessels are now in the Indian Ocean and are expected sail down the Straits of Malacca into the South China Sea on their way home.
