Wichita State University to create ‘digital twin’ of F-16

The Wichita State University’s National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) will embark on another project to create a ‘digital twin’ of the F-16.

Two F-16s now stored at the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG) at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base will be used for the project. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s F-16 Program Office is sponsoring the project. Both jets are expected to arrive at NIAR in September.

The NIAR is also involved in a program to develop a ‘digital twin’ of the B-1B bomber.
