The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) has warned on Feb. 16 that Russian state-sponsored hackers have been targeting U.S. cleared defense contractors (CDCs) since January 2020.

These cyber operators were keen to obtain information on areas such as weapons and missile development; and aircraft design.
They were successful in getting sensitive but unclassified information. Their attacks was carried out mostly in the Microsoft 365 environment using legitimate credentials and a variety of malware.
