Retired U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Robert Cardenas passed away on his 102nd birthday on Mar. 10 and a B-2 from Edwards Air Force Base conducted a rare flyover at his funeral service on Mar. 31.
Cardenas was a test pilot for the YB-49 and was the pilot of the B-29 that carried the X-1 on the first supersonic flight.
