The warships will provide air defense coverage with their radars and anti-air missiles.

The Ministry of National Defense also announced this morning that the military will enter an “intensified combat readiness guidance period.” The order takes effect from 0800 hrs local time on Aug. 2 and will end at 1200 hrs on the 4th.

During this period, Taiwan will not increase combat readiness levels or increase its combat forces. Rather, the military will strengthen the monitoring of the Taiwan Straits and be ready to deploy troops in the shortest period of time.
