The U.S. will also supply Ukraine with Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and Germany will provide Marder infantry fighting vehicles.

The Marder is a German infantry fighting vehicle specifically designed for use with the German Army’s Panzergrenadiere units, which are specialized in mechanized infantry combat. It has been in service with the German Army since the 1970s and is currently used as their main Panzergrenadiere infantry fighting vehicle. The Marder was developed as part of the rebuilding of West Germany’s armored vehicle industry and has proven to be a reliable and effective design.

Both countries will train the Ukrainian military on the Marders and Bradleys, although it is not clear how many of each will be supplied.

The U.S. had said last month that it intends to send a Patriot unit to Ukraine.
