1st Lt. Catherine Stark from Erie has been selected to fly the F-35C, she is the first female USMC pilot to do so.
KINGSVILLE, Texas (Aug. 2, 2019) – Marine 1st Lt. Catherine Stark celebrates after receiving her Wings of Gold during a ceremony aboard Naval Air Station Kingsville. Stark will continue to her assigned fleet replacement squadron (FRS) to fly the F-35C Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter aircraft. Stark is the first Marine to be assigned to the Navy’s F-35C FRS. Taiwan operates a small fleet of its F-16A/B fighters at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. The 21st Fighter Squadron’s training program is suppose to shift to Tucson International Airport in 2020. Now, it has been reported that Taiwan wishes to move to a new location close to U.S. Navy fighter bases.
