Looming carrier gap will see both 5th and 7th Fleet sharing one carrier this spring

Sometime this spring, the U.S. Navy will have to settle with just one carrier strike group in either the Pacific or Middle East as another carrier gap looms.

NAWCWD rebuilt BQM-34-41s into -55s with help from Northrop Grumman

The U.S. Navy is running low of BQM-74s so it decided to bring 20 BQM-34-41 models out of mothball. So instead of sending them to Northrop Grumman for upgrade to the BQM-34-55 model, Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division paid the contractor to learn how to do it themselves.

NRL, Penn State Univ. demonstrates cooperative soaring concept for UAVs

Researchers at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) and the Air Vehicle Intelligence and Autonomy (AVIA) Lab at Penn State University (PSU), have successfully demonstrated the use of cooperative autonomous soaring algorithms to keep unmanned sailplanes aloft for sustained flight durations.

Japan might be interested in RAM Block 2

In a notice for awarding a $66 million contract to Raytheon for Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) Block 2 guided missiles, the Pentagon said the contract includes an option for foreign military sales to Japan.
