Aircraft carrier move to Florida deferred not canceled

U.S. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus said during a visit to Jacksonville, Florida that moving an aircraft carrier to Naval Station Mayport has only been deferred and not canceled.

Russia buys 20 MiG-29K and four MiG-29KUB

The Russian defense ministry has ordered 20 MiG-29K and four MiG-29KUB carrier-borne fighters. Delivery will start next year.

ONR starts testing BAE Systems’ railgun

Varyag gets J-15 on flight deck

A J-15 has been spotted on the flight deck of Varyag but it looks like the plane is a full-size replica instead of the real thing. Also on board is a Z-8.

Why Japan is seeking the KC-130R

Update: Apparently, the KC-130R was bought to replace the JMSDF’s fleet of aging YS-11M. The in-flight refueling capability will be removed.

In case you are wondering why Japan wants to buy the KC-130R, it may be because there is a requirement to provide aerial refueling for the JASDF UH-60Js.
