Eight people were injured when giant tents collapsed during a National Children’s Day event in Chanthaburi province on Jan. 14. The incident occurred when a Royal Thai Navy H145M helicopter flew directly above three giant tents, sending powerful downdrafts that caused the structures to collapse onto a crowd below.
The U.S. Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS) welcomed its third Army commander, Lt. Col. Aaron Kia, during a ceremony at Naval Air Station Patuxent River on January 12th. Kia relieved Cmdr. Jeremy DeBons during an airborne change of command ceremony officiated by Naval Test Wing Atlantic Commodore, Capt. Elizabeth Somerville.
On Jan. 6, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, the 1st Fighter Wing held a unique event combining two squadron activations and two assumptions of command. The 71st Fighter Squadron, which had been inactive, was reactivated, and the 71st Fighter Generation Squadron was established.

NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, is deploying its E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) surveillance planes to Bucharest, Romania on Jan. 17.
