Kim Jong-un observes Air Force exercise

North Korea’s state media reported on Feb. 21 that the country’s leader Kim Jong-un had observed drills carried out by its Air Force.

MQ-9 crashes in Afghanistan

The 451st Air Expeditionary Group lost a MQ-9 at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan on Feb. 20 at about 9 p.m. Kabul time. There were no injuries or damage to civilian property as a result of the crash.

Turkey taking a look at MEADS

Defense News says Turkey has taken an interest in the Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS). An anonymous source said Turkish procurement officials have sound out MEADS partner country Germany on the system.

World’s greatest test pilot and world record holder for most carrier landings has passed away

It was a huge loss to the aviation community on Feb. 21 as Capt Eric “Winkle” Brown passed away at the age of 97 after a short illness.
