Eight airmen shot down over Switzerland during WW2 awarded Prisoner of War Medal

Eight U.S. Army Air Force airmen who were shot down and interned in Switzerland during World War Two were awarded the Prisoner of War Medal on Apr. 30.

The internees were initially ineligible for the POW medal as Switzerland was a neutral state during the war. An amendment by Congress on the FY2013 defense bill allowed them to be considered for the medal.
