The U.S. State Department has approved the sale of eight SH-60F Sea Hawks via the Excess Defense Articles (EDA) Program to Israel. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) issued notification 16-40 to clear the sale of engines and other associative equipment in order to supplement the EDA grant transfer.

DSCA said the EDA sale in the separate notification is for airframes only. This transmittal is for 12 T-700 GE 401C engines, 10 installed and two spares, thus Israel intends to have only five aircraft serviceable and the other three kept for spare parts.
