Production engineering phase of B61-12 nuclear bomb life extension program approved

The U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has approved the production engineering phase of its B61-12 nuclear warhead life extension program (LEP).

NNSA says this milestone marks the final development phase prior to production.

The B61-12 will replace the existing B61-3, -4, -7, and -10 thermonuclear bombs.
