Qatar Airways says massive Boeing airliner order not linked to F-15 sale

Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker has denied at a press conference in Washington that his company’s purchase of 40 787-9 and 777-300ER airliners from Boeing is linked to a potential sale of 36 F-15s to Qatar.

“Qatar Airways has this independent policy ordering airplanes. So nothing is attached to anything,” Al Baker replied to a reporter.

Reuters reported on Oct. 4 that this deal for commercial aircraft was put on hold since July by the Qatari government to put pressure on Washington to approve the fighter purchase.
