UH-1N hit by bullet, pilot hurt

A UH-1N helicopter assigned to the 1st Helicopter Squadron at Joint Base Andrews was struck by a bullet on Aug. 12 while flying over Manassas, Virginia.

The helicopter, callsign Mussel 16, made an emergency landing at Manassas airport as one of the pilots onboard was injured.

The FBI is investigating the shooting and its agents from the Washington Field Office are at the scene. They will work hand-in-hand with Air Force investigators to determine the facts.

NBC says the Huey was 10 miles northwest of the airport, near Middleburg, and was flying about 1,000 feet above the ground when it was hit.
