FAA wants to let FedEx install DRICM system on its A321-200

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) wants to approve FedEx’s request to install the Directional Infrared Counter Measures (DIRCM) on its A321-200 cargo plane and is seeking comments from the public.

The certification, which FedEx had applied for in 2019, comes with certain conditions. The FAA wants FedEx to ensure that the system will be able to identify foreseeable failure modes and the A321 or other aircraft will not be damage when the DIRCM is in use.
