Japan plans 50 satellites constellation for hypersonic missile early warning network

Several sources have confirmed that Japan plans to place a small satellite constellation in low Earth orbit to track next-generation hypersonic missiles, the Ashahi Shimbun reports.

The planned constellation will have 50 satellites. It will be included in the Defense Ministry’s Mid-Term Defense Program that runs from fiscal 2023 until fiscal 2027.
